Enjoy the “Christmas Spirit” with free events, throughout the city

The Christmas season is characterized by an abundance of activities that promote family enjoyment. Do you want to know the activities that you can enjoy for free? Here you have a list of places where you can have fun!

Parade of Trees

The Parade of Trees is held at Spring Park, Green Cove Springs, 106 St., Johns Avenue from December 3 through the 31st, from sundown to 10 p.m. At this event, you will be able to admire the 160 beautifully decorated and illuminated trees that will delight adults and children.

Living Nativity

If you want to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, you must attend the “Living Nativity” which will be held December 8th through the 10th, from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Westside Baptist Church located at 1700 Old Middleburg Rd., N. To enjoy the “Living Nativity” you don’t have to leave your car! You should know that the wait to enjoy the experience takes about an hour. The line to enter the exhibit area begins at Ed White High School and from there, you will travel about two miles to access the exhibit that transports you to a Biblical Christmas re-enactment featuring live animals and actors.

Dickens on Centre

Enjoy transporting yourself to the cities where the novels of the writer Charles Dickens took place, full of the charm that characterizes them. You’ll enjoy characters dressed according to the occasion, Victorian-era entertainment, a children’s play area, and holiday movies, all taking place at Fernandina Beach on Centre Street on December 5th from 5 to 7:30 p.m., December 9th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., December 10th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and December 11th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Deck the Chairs

Only “Beaches” area residents can transform lifeguard chairs into something festive during the holiday season with an hour-long music and light show that includes a visit from Santa, dance performances, local musicians and holiday films. The event runs from November 23rd to January 1st at Jacksonville Beach.

The lights in the Blackhawk area

The display of lights is impressive in the Blackhawk subdivision as the residents go out of their way to astonish the visitors. Huge trees and residences are illuminated in the Girvin Road and Blackhawk Trail South area.

The lights of Southcreek

A synchronized music show with approximately 29 songs and more than 5,000 lights will amaze visitors beginning the weekend of “Thanksgiving” until “New Year’s Eve”. The presentation begins at 5:30 in the afternoon and goes on until midnight. For additional information visit the website: SouthcreekLights.com

Nights of Lights

The historic section of St. Augustine is illuminated with three million lights transforming the city into a magical and festive one. The event starts on November 19th and goes on until January 31st. Hometown Holiday in the Park

If you’re an Orange Park resident, get ready to celebrate Christmas on December 9th and 10th, starting at 5 p.m. at 1039 Kingsley Ave. There will be entertainment and fun for the whole family.

The Children’s Christmas Party of Jacksonville

Save the date for the “Children’s Christmas Party of Jacksonville” being held on Saturday, December 17th from 9 am to 12 noon at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, located at 1000 Water St., Jacksonville, Florida 32204. Santa and his helpers will be distributing free toys for children up to 12 years of age.
